Jacob is officially Crawling!

Ok, it's actually scooching!! But at least it's in the forward direction! We've actually had a pretty relaxed weekend around home for the most part, so I spent a lot of time videoing and taking pictures and letting him hang out in his diaper, and explore the house. Having a "mobile" baby, has definately changed things! In a good way, he's occupied with the simplest things, like the patio door, and the stick that goes in it! And in a bad way, because he is now constantly pulling my books off the shelf in his playroom (gonna have to move those), and the bag of various cords beside the computer is his new favorite thing to pull out and chew on.. (also gonna have to move that).

We also had a bit more time to explore Jacob standing at the couch and at his big block toy a bit more. I have some great videos of it, but at the fear of looking like a terrible parent as I video him while he falls down, I think I'll leave those off the internet. He was just so interested in trying to let go of the toy and move to the couch, but his skills just aren't quite there yet. However, we did get a few great photos!

I also decided to try letting Jacob feed himself! He has so many teeth, and is really not interested in anything I try to give him off a spoon. Sure, there's the odd day he will eat a green vegetable, and he still loves the oatmeal.. but he can't survive on that forever. So I tryed mixing his squash with avocado, and eventually gave up and gave him the spoon. He had fun, but I"m convincing myself that by exploring the food with his hands (and sometimes putting the spoon in his mouth to chew on it), he is getting used to the food. And, he tried desperately to pick up his puffed rice and eat it. Most of it ended up in his lap, but still.. it's a learning process right? :)

Anyway, I want to try and get some of the videos on here about these events, but I"m not sure if it'll work, so i'm going to publish this post, to make sure I don't lose it and put the videos in a seperate one. Make sure you check it out, because I got an awesoem video of his "scooching" today! Who knew that all you needed was an empty plastic bottle to entice your child to crawl???

Otherwise, hope you are all doing well! We're counting down the days to see Kent, but glad that he is finding so much opportunity to call home, and that he is doing well!
