Back to being a sick baby

Hey there!
So, I broke my promise again and took too long to get on here, but honestly.. I didn't really have any pictures. We've had a slower week then normal, which was nice. Well, we were home more, but not necessarily not busy. Jacob started getting the runny nose and skin irritation from teething early in the week, and it's progressed into a nasty cough and crabby baby again. I'm watching it over the weekend, and will call the doctor on Monday, just because I"m worried about his ear. But he hasn't had any high fevers luckily. Nevertheless, it seems I can't catch a break from having a crabby sick baby. At least i'm healthy again, which has made it a whole lot easier to deal with.

The biggest news is that Kent finally borrowed a card and checked the blog! And he can watch the videos!! YAY!! He didn't realize there was another page, and I'm not sure when he'll check again, but I wanted to get on and update it again soon. Jacob almost didn't cooperate and fall asleep for me tonight so that I could have a break and get stuff done. But I laid his head on the pillow beside me and cuddled him in (something he never does), and we watched a bit of tv together until he fell asleep soon after. I was so excited. Partly because he fell asleep quickly, but also because I got a cuddle in the process. Jacob is usually way too busy exploring to cuddle.

Not much else to write about. We went to a party last night, and bought a bunch of new food/spices from a company called Sunset Gourmet. Then today we did our last swimming lessons, and went for brunch with Abby, Kurt, Rylea, and Abby's mom. Then I went to Michael's to use my coupon on more scrapbooking supplies... since I"m finally serious about doing those Disney World scrapbooks from our last 2 trips lol! Then we hung out at home the rest of the day. Jacob napped while I did some stuff with the photos on the computer, and then I napped with him a bit.

After supper, I had Jacob in the jolly jumper, while I tried to watch a bit of a movie. Then when I took him out, I had Katie tied to the couch because of her muddy feet. He wouldn't stay away from her, so she decided to "paint him". I'm not sure how the photos turned out.. but we'll try to get them on here anyway.
Oh yah, last Thursday, Abby and Rylea came over for supper (It was so nice to cook for someone else), and then we watched a girl movie. But the best part is that both of them (Jacob moreso then Rylea) dumped their suppers all over themselves, and so we put them in the bath together. They had a blast... and shared the toys very well. Then they both cooperated and went to sleep, but Rylea only lasted for a while, and eventually Jacob wanted to get up and watch the movie too. But by midnight (after many pauses), we finally finished the movie! lol
Finally, I"ll put up a couple videos of Jacob talking (his vocabulary is really growing now! He says mum, mum, mum now.. but of course not on camera). Also, a video of him playing with his new drum!

Crawling Babies are exhausting...

Happy Easter Everyone! So, it's taken me a while to get on here again, but I"ll blame it on us being sick, and needing to slow down and take some time for ourselves. Amongst the Easter activities. Jacob and I are both feeling much better, which has helped immensely.

Easter was lot's of fun. Jacob got spoiled, of course, and actually even found some eggs on his own, now that he's mobile, which was very exciting! Speaking of which.. my life is now a whole lot more exhausting, as he's very quick, and notices new things to chase immediately (like open pantry doors, etc). He is forever going over to the nintendo, dogs's dishes, vents in the floors of the bathroom, and anything else I don't want him touching. So it's been fun, to say the least. It's also made for some interesting pictures, of the various situations Jacob can now get himself into. They'll explain themselves...

So on Saturday, Jacob's friend Rylea came over with her mom and dad to colour eggs. Rylea's mom thought that it would be fun to use the non-toxic paint to let them finger paint on the eggs.. this is what Jacob thought of that idea... Then on Sunday, after opening his gift from us (first picture) we went over to Rylea's house for the egg hunt, and opened the baskets from the Easter bunny, and Rylea's parents. Then we helped make the wonderful Turkey dinner, (Jacob and Rylea napped through that on our backs) and I even got to leave Jacob with Rylea's dad and grandma downstairs, while Rylea's mom and I sat in the hot tub for a bit. It was wonderful! And then, they sent me home with leftovers! :) Otherwise, the only other pictures that were worth putting on here, were Jacob showing off his new fuzzi bunz diapers! I am so excited about these diapers already, and it's only been 3 days. But it's been 3 days of NO DISPOSABLES!!! I'm going to miss them when we travel!
I did have a video on here of Jacob banging Katie's dishes, but somehow deleted it, and don't have the energy to sit and wait for it to upload again. So next time! It happens so often, that Kent has gotten to hear it over the phone and have a good laugh!

On the mend..

Well, at least I know I wasn't crazy for going to the ER on Friday night. Jacob and I went to our own doctor yesterday, and are now both on antibiotics. Him with a nasty ear infection, and me with strep throat. I already feel much better today, and he is back to being my happy "talkative" little boy. It's not much fun getting the 5mL into him 3 times a day, but we're starting to perfect the science of it!

I spoke to Kent today, and apparently his group is not as lucky as the others, and still don't have working phone cards to allow him to get on the internet, but I wanted to get on here today with a new video because Jacob decided to crawl on his knees today! He even did it for me on camera!

Other then that, not much else to say. We feel a lot better, so I"ve been busy booking things for our trip. Looks like I left it a little too long, because we're now going to be having breakfast with Mickey at 7 am on Jacob's birthday. Guess we get to start the celebrating nice and early! Oh well, I doubt we'll want to be sleeping on our last day together anyway.

My goal tonight is to get Kent's parcel together (since i'm behind schedule), so I can mail it tomorrow. And then we have a bit of stuff to do to get ready for Easter this weekend. Maybe eventually, I'll get to the laundry. I"ve sort of enjoyed this hiatus from housework, while I was resting, that it's hard to get myself back in the groove.

Anyway, here's the video. This is the first one I took. It took him a while to get started, so I tried to take others that would be smaller and easier to upload, but he kept giving up and going to his stomache, so I hope this will upload!

One month down...

So, I"m a little late again in posting, but we're still not very healthy in this house, and just getting through the days has been my focus. We did go to one day of my social work conference, but I didn't accomplish much, other then getting my name on the sign in sheet for the credits, and spent the rest of the time, trying to console Jacob and keep him quiet. We left early, and ended up going to the ER because of his fever. He's doing much better now, and just needs a whole bunch more tylenol and sleep until this clears. We decided to stay at home today, and try to rest. Of course, i'm not sleeping because I still have a million things to do to prepare for our trip in May, and I want to get some decisions made so I can book things. You'd think by the 3rd time going to Disneyworld, I'd have it figured out. But it's challenging to find the balance between doing new things, still doing the favorites, planning for having a one year old with us, planning for the birthday party of said one year old, and also making sure that we're not too busy to just have nice family time together since it's the only 3 weeks we get together this year. Anyway, amongst our sniffles, coughs, occasional pukes from coughing, and cries, we've managed to get a few cute photos and videos over the last week that I'll add now. Hope everyone is doing well. Some of the other guys have gotten their phone cards working, so I"m really hoping Kent is able to check this soon..

So, here's an example of my bad mommy moments! Jacob found some dirt on the floor off Katie's paw, and decided to eat it. I had to take a picture before wiping it out!

Showing off his outfit from Grandma and Grandpa Windover!

Playing at the indoor playground with Rylea! He actually rocked it himself!

Biting the mesh of the playpen in the changeroom of the pool!

Here's a video that Abby took of Jacob on his first waterslide adventure!

K, these took forever to upload, so I"m going to post this, and then do a seperate one for the other videos.. i can't choose between them!

Sick Baby + Sick Mummy -Daddy = no fun and no sleep

Hey there everyone! So it's been a few days again, but I have some new photos and videos to put up. Jacob and I have been very busy, but have also come down with a very nasty cold over the last few days.

Friday we went to the Mom, Pop, and Tots fair with some others from my mom's group, and we had a blast. Jacob got to play in the balls, look at some ponies and goats, and "participated" in a crawling race. I say it like that because he barely moved a foot (and it was out of the race area towards the stroller wheels). But he did win a cool bib that says "Zen baby" for participation! Mum also got to do a bit of shopping and do some research on a new set of cloth diapers. Luckily, Kent called a couple of times this weekend, so he got to have a say in whether we purchase them or not!
Anyway, It was at the fair that I started to lose my voice (Abby says I was talking too much about diapers). But she graciously watched Jacob while I went home to vaccum, and pick up Katie from daycare, and then they fed me supper. I honestly don't know what I'd do without Abby and Kurt. They have been so helpful and so welcoming of me and Jacob during this tour. She says that when Kent is home, we won't see the end of their daughter Rylea! Here's a video of their daughter Rylea and Jacob playing with his new toy:

Then Saturday we had a day at home. We skipped swimming lessons again this week because we were both to sick to go. We just relaxed at home and got ready for our company that night. We had 6 other spouses from Kent's unit over for a pot luck, and it was lot's of fun. Jacob decided to be a clown and get one of his puffed wheat in his nose. Sorry the pics are so blurry.

Then on Sunday, we had another pot luck brunch on the base for deployment families. It was nice, and great food again! Jacob had a blast watching all the big kids run around. Then we came home and got Katie and went to the off leash park with Jo-Ann and her dogs. This was the first time Jacob rode in just the stroller and got to watch all the dogs. I didn't have the camera with me, but got a nice picture of both of them post walk. I must have forgotten what spring is like down there. Katie didn't get a walk.. she got a swim... in all of the puddles. So much for the money I spent having her groomed on Friday.

Then today we just relaxed at home again and took a sick day. The rest of the week is going to be very busy, so I knew we needed a day at home to relax and get some things done on the to-do list around here.

Anyway, I better get to bed because I"m sure it'll be another long night.

3 Weeks done already...

Sorry it's been a few days since I updated, but I didn't have any good new pics or videos on the computer, and as usual, we've been busy. We've also not been getting as much sleep lately...:( Anyway, it's been a crazy week. Started off on Saturday by getting the van stuck in the middle of our street on the ruts that had turned to ice. My neighbor pulled me out with his truck, but the best we could do was get it back in the parking spot. I moved it later in the day to the end of the street, and just yesterday could park in front of the house again, because the city came and filled the ruts in after I phoned and complained. Then on Tuesday, I wiped out on the ice while sweeping off the van. Luckily Jacob was already in his car seat and not in my arms. Speaking of which, here's a photo of him in his new big boy carseat!

Anyway, the weekend had also been rough because I didn't hear from Kent for a few days, and I started to go a bit crazy. Not necessarily with worry ("no news is good news"), but just that I had so much happen, and just needed to vent to my best friend, so I could move on. He finally called on Monday, and I was immediately better and could carry on with the errands I needed to get done that day. It was still a few days before we were able to have a good conversation that wasn't cut short for some reason (today actually), but at least I got to hear his voice!

As for mr. jacob this week. I've decided to stop trying to give him purreed food for the most part. He's had ground up chicken for the past two nights and loved it. We also just chopped up some stir fry veggies really small, but unless he could pick them up himself, he wasn't interested. I also started him on puffed wheat this week which has been a hit. So he's starting to get a little more variety in his diet. Also, we have a little safe feeder mesh thing, that I was avoiding using, because I didn't want him to get used to eating that way. But in desperation yesterday, I put some banana in it, and lo and behold.. he likes bananas.. just only when he can feed them to himself. But, we tried pears in there this morning, and he wasn't in the mood. But here's some cute pics from him eating the banana!

Jacob loves to get his toys out for himself, and yesterday.. he decided to just bring out absolutely every book, and leave the rest. As soon as he had them all out, he headed across the room to my books. I really gotta do something about moving those soon.

And this next photo is purely for Kent's benefit, if he ever gets a chance to check in. See, Kent loves to bug me about being a drama queen whenever I stub my toe. What he doesn't realize is that when he's not around to benefit from my "show", I really don't complain at all. Well, tonight while cooking supper, I splashed my arms with hot oil when dumping in the chicken. I rubbed it off quickly and kept going. But while doing the dishes, I noticed a big red burn on my arm and just had to take a picture for Kent.. so that I could be a "drama queen" for him about it! So, hun.. here's my booboo.. I'll make Jacob kiss it better! lol

Lastly, I took several video over the last couple of days, but accidentally switched it to compact somewhere along the lines. But we did get a nice one of him "trying" to walk with Jo-Ann last Saturday, so I was able to get it on video. It's amazing, but in only a few short days he's already way more sturdy at doing this then in the video. Nevertheless.. here it is..
