3 months down, 13 more sleeps, and he's already 11 months...AHHHH!

Hey there folks!
So, I am skipping out on much needed sleep to finally update this so you better appreciate it!!! Especially you Kent, since I'm still waiting for an email or phone call from you today! The above picture is of some really cute pj's that we were given when Jacob was born. They are 6-12 months and he was wearing that size when it was much too cold to wear them. But I figured I"d try them the other day and they fit! His puffy diaper bum sticks way outm but oh well!!

So we've been busy, as usual. Mostly with prep for our upcoming trip, general house stuff, and a great trip to Red Deer for Mother's Day weekend with the Simon's and I finally got to use my spa gift certificate from my birthday! (which was soo lovely.. thanks again for babysitting Jenn). We also got to go to Emily's dance recital and Cole's soccer game. Both of which, Jacob loved! Amongst playing the piano, emptying the tupperware cupboard, climbing stairs, watching the basketball extravaganza, and showing off and making his cousins giggle. I have several photo and video proof of this to add.

We also were at a family picnic for the International Day of the Midwife with Helen and her kids, as well as one of the families from our prenatal classes! As well, we went on a mini road trip to Vegreville with Abby and Rylea for Abby's father in law's change of command/retirement/bridge naming ceremony. Even though it had nothing to do with Kent, I still loved it. Someday I'll get to see Kent on parade (where he isn't hiding behind all the tall people). Maybe for his change of command parade in 34 years! :)

Just a fun vide of Jacob's new talking!

Another fun video of Jacob having a giggle session with mum!

So I think that is finally it! I didn't do as many little explanations this time! Hope you all enjoy! It took me so long to do it that now there is only 12 more sleeps!!!

Sorry it's been so long

Hey everybody..

So now that the weather has finally smartened up, and we're busy getting ready for our trip that's in only 24 sleeps.. i've been way worse at getting on here. Plus, Jacob has gotten sick again and the nights have been rougher and shorter. Anyway, i've got a few video and pics to get on here of the new "skills" he has been developing, so I'll just get right to it. First are some pictures of the two beautiful bouquets Kent sent me for our Anniversary! (so he can see them too! Thank you hunny, I love them, and I love you! 23 more sleeps!!!)

Here's a nice taste of Jacob's temper tantrum, and Determination. Hope you're excited to deal with this daddy!!!

This is Jacob standing up and posing with his new push, sort, and ride on tonka truck!
So Much for that idea for keeping him out of the DVD's....

Here's Jacob walking behind his new push/ride on/sorter tonka truck

Here's a little song and dance from Jacob!

This is how Jacob gets off his ride on toy!

This is what Jacob thinks of our idea for keeping him out of the DVD's!

Jacob got to play outside this week with the neighbors! He got covered in sidewalk chalk!

This was Jacob's first taste of Spaghetti! He loved it!!

This is just to show off Jacob's cute new raincoat and the wagon that we bought him! (still in the box, and still not downstairs)

This is what happens when Jacob throws his cup off the highchair!

Superstar!!!

Jacob has discovered that the cupboards are locked, and he doesn't like that idea...

Jacob in the crawl tunnel at playgroup!

Well, that's finally it! I really hope this publishes since it took me so long to do! I got a nice video of his "chatting" this morning, but I"ll save that for next time!

Katie and Mother Nature are almost on their last strike...

So if everything breaking and Katie digging another hole in the backyard wasn't enough, we're now in the midst of the biggest storm of the whole winter, and Katie decided it was time to chew a hole in the cover on her bed that Margery made. All I have to say is she's very lucky we love her so much.

Last Sunday, we were at a birthday party at Gymboree, and I was wearing capri pants in the plus 25 weather. This Sunday looked pretty much like today does...(see above). I wish to take back the sympathy I offered to those folks in Ottawa a month or so ago when they were getting all that snow. At least they're having spring now...

Before the snow, we were able to get out for a few more walks, and Jacob sure thinks that he could handle holding the leash...

So, Jacob has a new thing where he can't keep his eyes open until the picture is taken. This is only a sampling of the photos I took trying to get him to keep his eyes open..

Finally!
Jacob's new sleep position the other night. Last night he was perpindicular for most of the night, but at least he slept past 6 am. All I have to say is I'm glad we have a king in Florida, and I have no idea what we'll do in Sept.

Last night, I had to work to do the monthly toy wash, and so our friends Melissa and Terri so graciously agreed to babysit for me. This time at their place. Besides being a little scared of the little dog barks when we first got there, Jacob did great. And I've discovered that there is a bonus perk to getting a photographer friend to babysit.. you end up with some great shots on your camera afterwards! Thanks again Terri and Melissa! You guys are so awesome!

So, that's about it for the photos I wanted to add today! Kent has moved again, so we're not really sure how much access he'll get. As far as he is concerned, he's just fine with keeping busy to make the days go by faster. Only 35 more sleeps! And with this weather especially, I wish it was tomorrow.

I've got a few videos to put up that will do better at explaining the recent developments in Jacob. His vocabularly continues to grow, he's hillarious at getting himself down from standing (he's like his mum who just stops herself on skates by running into the boards), and he's really been figuring out how to play with his toys (the ball toys especially).

Videos from the past couple of weeks!

Make sure you read the blog below this for all of the pictures. But here are a few videos from the past few weeks. This first one is just to show how fast Jacob is getting at crawling. Which will help explain why simple tasks such as cooking, are becoming major chores, just because of having to drag Jacob out of the pantry a million times in a row, etc.

This next video is of Jacob's ride in the police cars at the MFRC. He had a blast honking the horn, and I'm still so shocked he held on that good. He tipped over a few times, but Emily was always able to catch him (after we yelled at her to notice it lol)

So, in keeping with my early comment about how difficult it is to get things done. This video was taken while I was trying to sweep up the mess under Jacob's high chair after dinner tonight.

This next video is of the new photo book that I found for Jacob. It has really helped with diaper changes, as he rarely tries to roll away anymore as he talks to and looks at his pictures. I have even been able to teach him to give kisses to daddy with this book, and he now gives Kent kisses over the phone! So cute...

And I guess that's it for now!

A whole bunch of pictures to catch up on.

Hey there everyone!

So, I've finally found a minute to sit down and update the blog. There are several pics that I wanted to put up, so I"ll probably not say too much, just explain the pics. We've been very busy with several play dates, company over for dinner, a trip to the West Edmonton Mall galaxyland with our mum's group, and still found time for a nice walk with Katie in the sunshine today, and to make some birthday cards with my new stampin up stuff. I have a few cute video's too, but I'll add those in the next post. So, to start off, Jacob likes to help unpack the groceries now. He sure found the cookies quick!

Last weekend, I took a first aid course at the MFRC and Jenn and Emily came up to babysit for me. They joined me for lunch, so that Jacob could nurse, and him and Emily had a blast in the little cars that were there.
Jacob is more interested in holding his own cup and feeding himself now. He's doing great! Even though he gets a bit soaked...

Shopping with Rylea at West Edmonton Mall!

On the Train at Galaxyland

"Baby Jail", waiting in line for the carousel.

Riding the Carousel

Rylea and Jacob playing with my keys once we got home! Favorite game!

Jacob is slowly learning to put the balls in this toy, even if he had it a bit backwards!

Katie's nap after daycare last night

Katie finding a spot to cool off this afternoon! That's how much snow we have left, Kent

Anyway, I should publish this and get on to uploading the videos! We've got another busy day tomorrow with a pot luck brunch at the MFRC, and then a 1st birthday party at Gymboree for one of the babies from the mum's group! Then Abby and Kurt are coming back over so Kurt can finish caulking the tent trailer for Kent! It's seriously helping the days go by fast. We've got under 45 sleeps left now!!

Life is slowly getting back together

Hey there,

I just wanted to put a quick post on here to explain why I haven't updated in a while. Jacob and I have had a rough couple of weeks, including several things breaking (the oven, and the computer monitor), and another trip to the ER with him for something minor, but still stressfull all the same. So I was without computer access for a while, and now that I have it back, I still have a lot of catching up to do (amongst our already busy schedule) before I'll be able to get some more photos and videos on here.

So, I'm really trying to stay on top of updating this regularly now that Kent has a working phone card and can check it. I've got a few neat pictures and videos from the last few days that are worth putting up. I"ll spare you all the photo of Jacob's humungous boogers that he keeps sneezing out! :) Things have been good. We spent the day at West Edmonton Mall on Monday with friends Eric and Darla, and their 2 kids. They have been up in the NWT since Eric joined the RCMP and are out on their vacation. It was nice to hang out with friends who "get it" about the military lifestyle, as Eric used to be in. The first pic is of Jacob visiting Olivia over the barrier we set up to keep her away from the jacuzzi tub, and the next ones are from just outside the little petting zoo that is set up in the mall.Jacob is really into crawling up on things and pulling himself up at furniture and toys, as you'll see in the pictures. He's also into discovering and digging in drawers and baskets. He has discovered that there are lot's of fun things in the baskets at the front door, and that my car keys are on that bench, and are lot's of fun to chew on and bang against the floor. His exploratory nature has taken some getting used to, as we had an accident yesterday that could have been worse then it luckily was.

For this next picture, All that needs to be said is Katie found one of Jacob's cars that I missed when cleaning up his toys from the front room..

Today was a much better day as my friend Abby watched Jacob for most of the day while I did some running around, then I came home and cleaned up all the dog poop. (fun, but it needed to be done), and cleaned the bathrooms and other stuff around the house, and her husband came and installed the gate at the top of the stairs into the wall. Then we had supper together and she joined me for the walk on the base with some of the other wives from Kent's unit! Jacob had a blast playing with his girlfriend all day and barely missed me. It was also neat that Abby got to see what I mean about my "curious" kid. I"m not crazy... Anyway, even though it was a great break, I"m exhausted from all the work I did today and need to get to bed soon. I"ll just upload a quick video of how good Jacob is getting at feeding himself, and then post it all!
